Field Renovation Day 2022
It was an honor to participate in the first annual Colorado Sports Field Management Association Field Renovation Day last week at Mountain Range High School in Westminster, CO.
Project Overview
The junior varsity baseball field at Mountain Range High School in Westminster, Colorado, part of the Adams12 School District, had fallen into disrepair due to lack of budget and workers to perform regular maintenance. The coaching staff has maintained the fields in addition to their coaching responsibilities. The school district recently added a sports turf manager to oversee the ongoing maintenance and care of the district’s multiple athletic playing fields.
The Colorado Sports Field Managers Association considered this a great field to offer education to its members on products, equipment and training with the end goal of giving back to the community.
We (L.L. Johnson) brought the Toro Outcross 9060 and the Bullseye RotaQuake™ 630 attachment to help aerate the outfield.
Bullseye RotaQuake™ 630
The Bullseye RotaQuake 630 is an aerator that decompacts the soil using a set of rotating steel blades. As these blades cut cleanly through the soil, they create a wave action that shatters compacted areas and opens up the subsoil. The RotaQuake can work at depths up to 10” (25.4 cm) with minimal to no surface disruption to keep your turf ready for play. The rear roller smooths surface behind rotating blades and the integrated legs make unhooking and storage easy.
